About The Marlins
A member of the BC Summer Swimming Association, the Port Coquitlam Marlins is an organized summer swim club founded in 1970 that helps teach children of all ages the sport of swimming, to develop a good winning and (losing) attitude, give the children goals to set and strive for, and most important of all TO HAVE FUN!
The club is focused on the long term development of our athletes. In addition to swim training, our swimmers are also provided with additional training opportunities outside of the pool. Health and wellness and a wholesome lifestyle are at the core of our program. Swimmers learn about strength development using own body weight, short speed effort through agility exercise, water safety and movement skills, basic swimming skills – all strokes, turns, starts.
The swim season runs from May 1st to mid-August. Over the season, depending on the swimmer’s ability, there will be 50-100 hours of pool time. Practices are held at Centennial and Robert Hope pools before or after school during the weekdays. Weekends are for swim meets held in Port Coquitlam, Port Moody, Coquitlam, Burnaby + other optional locations.
